Project in development · on hold while we look for a partner institution

Transparency in how this book was made

The world of Equandia, its themes, its names, its characters and its story are the human creation of its author. Artificial intelligence was an assistive tool: it helped develop the stories in depth, verify information and create the images. The images did not come from a single prompt: they were a back-and-forth process in which the author explained each character, supplied references and asked for changes until their look was fixed as canon, and the rest was generated from that canon with AI assistance. Everything was done under human direction and review.

Fiction and reality

AMI, the Guardians' gifts, the Primordials, Umbra and the world of Equandia are fiction: a playful way to teach science and safety through a story you can enjoy. They do not exist, and in the real world no person or technology can predict an earthquake. The scientific facts and the safety recommendations in this book are real and are based on information published by official organizations, cited in “Official sources”. This book is not an official manual and does not replace the authorities in your area: in an emergency, always follow their instructions.
