What Equandia is
Equandia is a series of books for readers ages 9 to 14: five books in Luna's saga and a companion book, Ana's Diary. It brings together adventure and magical realism with Earth science and disaster preparedness. The author signs them with the pen name Sol Andia.
Where it stands
- Book 1, Signals in the Earth: written. Its chapters 1 to 3 can be read free on this site.
- Books 2 to 6: in development.
- No book is for sale and there are no publication dates.
- The illustrations and part of the development of the texts were made with artificial intelligence assistance, under human direction and review. We explain it in Transparency.
Why it is on hold
A book for children about earthquakes, floods, loss and grief needs more than an author. We would rather pause than publish without the right support. We are looking for a publisher, a foundation, or an educational or scientific institution to help carry the world of Equandia forward responsibly.
What we need to continue
- A publishing entity or responsible institution, with a name and legal address, that can stand behind the work.
- Professional legal review: liability, use of artificial intelligence, copyright and protection of children's data.
- Expert review: seismology and disaster risk management (for example, people with experience at institutions such as Peru's IGP or INDECI), child psychology, teaching, cultural and intercultural reading, and copyediting.
- Funding or sponsorship for illustration, editing and liability insurance.
- Distribution: reaching families, schools and libraries.
The institutions we mention are examples of the kind of expertise we are looking for. None of them endorses Equandia today or is related to the project.
Who this invitation is for
Publishers, foundations, universities, schools, NGOs, scientific institutions and independent professionals in the areas above.
